SUBJECT :	Use of Delegated Authority During 2011 by Transportation Planning Branch
OBJET :	Utilisation de pouvoirs délégués par la Direction de la planification des transports en 2011

PURPOSE

The purpose of this Memorandum is to report to Transportation Committee on the use of delegated authority in 2011 under Schedule “C” – Planning and Growth Management, of By-Law No. 2011-28 by the Transportation Planning Branch of the Planning and Growth Management Department.

BACKGROUND

By-Law No. 2011-28, “a by-law of the City of Ottawa respecting the delegation of authority to various officers of the City” was enacted by Council at its meeting of January 26, 2011.

This By-Law provides delegated authority to officers within the Planning and Growth Management Department and requires that use of delegated authority be reported to the appropriate Standing Committee at least once per year.

DISCUSSION

The following items were approved in 2011, under Section 44(1) Intersection and Road Modifications:

• Dalhousie South Community Area Traffic Management Study and associated area traffic management measures (Note: This approval did not include capital funding approval as required for implementation. Measures requiring capital funding will be implemented either at the time of future roadway reconstruction, or will be prioritized against all other previously approved area traffic management measures, and considered through capital budget deliberations in future years); and
• Roadway modifications to Wellington Street between the Portage Bridge and Bay Street Street to provide a street-level pedestrian crossing facility and improve cycling linkages.
