Transit By-Laws :                  REGIONAL REGULATORY CODE - (Abridged version)

 


 

 REGULATION OF FARES AND TRANSFERS 

 

 

3.2.2 (1)

Tendered for payment of the fare the exact amount established by the Commission.

 

 

3.2.2 (2)

The ride is authorized by a valid transfer or bus pass.

 

 

3.2.4

REFUSAL TO PAY FARE  Any person refusing to make tender as aforsaid in payment of the fare shall be deemed to be refusing to pay the fare.

 

 

3.2.5

PROOF OF PAYMENT ( POP ) While travelling upon buses designated as Proof of Payment buses, every person shall produce a valid bus pass or valid transfer when requested to do so by an employee, Transit Law Enforcement Officer, or Police Officer.

 

 

3.2.6

ALTERING A BUS PASS  No person shall use or produce an altered or ficticious bus pass.

 

 

3.2.7 (1)

STUDENT BUS PASS  No person, other than a student shall use a student bus pass.

 

 

3.2.7 (2)

No person, other than a student shall apply for or obtain a student photograph identification.

 

 

3.2.8

UNAUTHORIZED USE OF PASS OR TRANSFER  The holder of a bus pass or transfer shall comply with the conditions of use printed on the back of the pass. Failure to do so may result in its confiscation.

 

 

 PENALTIES  


 COMPLIANCE 

 

Any person who contravenes this part is liable to a set fine of $100.00.

Any person who fails to comply with this part, or who is otherwise disturbing the peace, forfeits the right to remain in, or on the bus or other vehicle or property, and shall, when directed to do so by an employee, a Transit Law Enforcement Officer, or a Police Officer, leave forthwith such bus, vehicle or other property.  In default of so doing, an employee, a Transit Law Enforcement Officer, or a Police Officer, may use such force as is reasonably necessary to remove such person or persons from bus, vehicle, or other property.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


 

 CONDUCT 

   

 

3.2.11

DAMAGE TO PROPERTY  No person shall cause or attempt to cause any damage to any vehicle, shelter or property which is either owned or leased or forms any part of the transit system.

   

 

3.2.12

CONDUCT  
No person shall,

 

 

 

 

3.2.12 1

(a)   ride on, stand on or hold on to the exterior of any vehicle;
(b)   lean out of or otherwise project any part of their body beyond the edge of any vehicle or transit platform; or
(c)   board or leave a vehicle except by using the appropriately identifified doors
(d)   remain in, or on, a bus or other vehicle, or property when directed to leave

 

 

3.2.12 2

In or upon any vehicle, passenger shelter, transit station, or any other property owned or occupied
(a)   loiter
(b)  administer illegal drugs;
(c)  expectorate;
(d)  urinate
(e)  defecate
(f)   litter
(g)  use profane, insulting or obscene language;
(h)  assault or otherwise use threatening behaviour towards any other person;
(i)   cause a disturbance or nuisance by disordely conduct;
(j)   consume liquor or other alcoholic product; or
(k)   have in his or her possession liquor or other alcoholic product the container for which has been opened;
(l)   cause a disturbance by being intoxicated;

   

 

3.2.12 3

Smoke, or ignite a cigarette lighter or match in a vehicle, shelter or transitway owned, leased or occupied by;

   

 

3.2.12 4

Litter or soil or leave refuse or any kind in vehicles, shelters or transitway stations

  

 

3.2.12 5

Place large, bulky or sharp objects in a way that would endanger or cause a threat to other passengers or block the aisles in buses;

  

 

3.2.12 6

Bring explosive flammable or toxic material onto buses or vehicles

  

 

3.2.12 7

Board buses or vehicles while wearing skates;

  

 

3.2.12 8

With the exception of visually or hearing impaired persons requiring the assistance of a guide dog, bring any animal into any vehicle;

  

 

3.2.12 9

Play a musical instument, or operate any radio, transmitting or receiving device, tape recorder, or similar device in or upon any vehicle, unless the sound therefrom is conveyed by an earphone at a sound level that does not disturb other passengers;

  

 

3.2.12 10

Beg or solicit funds

  

 

3.2.12 11

Sell or attempt to sell any newspaper, magazine, merchandise or any other article or thing; distribute any pamphlet or literature or solicit members of the public for any purpose whatsoever in any stations, premises or vehicles;

  

 

3.2.12 12

Activate any emergency alarm or device or use any emergency phone, except in situations of emergency;

  

 

3.2.12 13

Affix any inscription, sign, drawing or other picture to any vehicle, shelter or transit station owned or occupied by;

  

 

3.2.12 14

Use roller skates or skateboards in a transitway station or vehicle owned or occupied by;

  

 

3.2.12 15

Ride a bicycle, unicycle or tricycle in a transitway station.

  

 

3.3.3

Unauthorized operation of a vehicle onto a transit only facility;

  

 

3.3.6

Unauthorized entry onto a transit only facility;

  

 

 PENALTIES  

 

 

Any person who contravenes this part is liable to a set fine of $70.00
