CHAIR’S UPDATE CITY WIDE The Commission received an update from Chair Deans in which she highlighted the following: * A tour by Commissioners, just prior to this meeting, of one of the new double-decker buses * September service improvements * a new advertising campaign to promote new special fares * OC Transpo information technology initiatives update RECEIVED 2. UPDATE FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER, TRANSIT SERVICES CITY WIDE John Manconi, General Manager of Transit Services, provided a PowerPoint presentation to update the Commission on OC Transpo’s new double-decker bus fleet. Joining Mr. Manconi were Pat Scrimgeour, Manager, Transit Service Planning and Reporting and Jim Greer, Manager, Transit Fleet Maintenance. A copy of the presentation is held on file. RECEIVED 3. PRESTO IMPLEMENTATION UPDATE CITY WIDE The Commission received a presentation from Bruce McCuaig, President and Chief Executive Officer of Metrolinx, Darryl Browne, Vice President, Operations and Deployment, PRESTO, and Scott Graham, Senior Executive/Project Director, Accenture. A copy of the PowerPoint is held on file. Following questions from Commissioners about ECOPASS costs, Marian Simulik, City Treasurer, provided financial details. The Commission was informed by Metrolinx and by John Manconi, General Manager of Transit Services, that another status update would come forward in the fall. STATUS UPDATE – TRANSIT COMMISSION INQUIRIES AND MOTIONS FOR THE PERIOD ENDING 14 AUGUST 2012 ACS2012-CMR-CCB-0067 CITY WIDE REPORT RECOMMENDATION That the Transit Commission receive this report for information. RECEIVED CITY OPERATIONS TRANSIT SERVICES 5. OC TRANSPO ANNUAL PERFORMANCE REPORT FOR 2011 ACS2012-COS-TRA-0009 CITY WIDE REPORT RECOMMENDATION That the Transit Commission and City Council receive this report for information. RECEIVED ADDITIONAL ITEM Councillor R. Bloess 6. STUDENT AGE CAP MOTION OTC 26/1 Moved by R. Bloess: That the Transit Commission approve the addition of this item for consideration by the Committee at today’s meeting, pursuant to Section 84(3) of the Procedure By-Law (being By-Law No. 2006-462). CARRIED MOTION OTC 26/1 Moved by R. Bloess: WHEREAS, the new age structure for OC Transpo is designed to align with other transit agencies participating in the Presto program; AND WHEREAS, this results in a common and standard maximum age of 19 to be eligible for individual student passes (except for U-Pass); AND WHEREAS, City Council’s decision did not anticipate the various scenarios that adversely impact students; AND WHEREAS, this “Made In Toronto” solution does not serve our student population equitably and fairly; BE IT THEREFORE Resolved that the student age be amended to recognize full time students; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that $400,000 be taken from the Transit Reserves to offset the associated cost for the remainder of 2012.
