                                         2013 MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL

 

 

RECOMMENDATION

 

That the Ottawa Police Services Board approve payment of $5,414.96 (including HST) to the Ontario Association of Police Services Boards for its 2013 membership fee.

 

BACKGROUND

 

The Ottawa Police Services Board has been a member and active supporter of the OAPSB and OAPSB Zone 2 (eastern Ontario) since 1995.  Several past members of the Ottawa Police Board have served on the OAPSB Board of Directors over the years, including Member MacEwen from 2002-2005 (Second Vice President for 2004-2005 term), Councillor El-Chantiry from May 2005 to December 2006, and Member Jensen from January 2007 to present.  Member Jensen has also served as the Association’s President since April 2012. 

 

The OAPSB’s 51st Annual Meeting and Conference will be held in Toronto from May 29 to June 1, 2013.  Details about the conference will be shared with the Board as soon as they are available. 

 

In accordance with the Board’s Training Policy and commitment to ongoing learning, members of the Ottawa Police Services Board are required to attend at least one annual OAPSB Annual Conference in the first two years of being on the Board.

FINANCIAL STATEMENT

 

The 2013 annual membership fee for police services boards with over 300 employees has increased by 2.5% over last year and now stands at $4,792 plus HST.  Funds have been allocated for this expense in the 2013 Police Services Board Budget.
