BACKGROUND

To ensure that this employee can carry out her assigned duties as a Special Constable, application is made to the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services to have her appointed as a Special Constable pursuant to Section 53 of the Police Services Act.  The Police Services Board appoints the employee as a Special Constable upon approval by the Ministry.  The appointment is valid until 14 November 2016 or until the appointee is no longer in the employ of OC Transpo (though the appointment can be renewed).  Upon termination of her employment, the Ottawa Police Service advises the Ministry to terminate the appointment.
