SUBJECT/OBJET 2012 POLICE SERVICES BOARD MEETING SCHEDULE
That the Ottawa Police Services Board approve the 2012 meeting schedule.
DISCUSSION
Since 1995 the Police Services Board has typically held regular monthly meetings on the fourth Monday of each month, with a few exceptions. The meetings are held at 5:00 p.m. in the Champlain Room, Heritage Building, Ottawa City Hall, 110 Laurier Avenue West.
Annex A contains a schedule of Police Services Board meetings for the year 2012. There are a few exceptions due to conflicts with civic holidays or other events, as follows:
· The April meeting has been moved from April 23 to April 30 because the Board is hosting the 50th Annual Conference of the Ontario Association of Police Services Boards the previous week and staff will be unavailable to prepare for the meeting.
· There is no meeting in August, as is the Board’s normal practice.
· The December meeting is scheduled on the third Monday, December 17th, because the fourth Monday falls on Christmas Eve.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS
Costs associated with the holding of regular Board meetings and community / public interest meetings have been included in the 2012 Draft Budget for the Police Services Board. Plans for public interest meetings will be made in the New Year.
CONCLUSION
The schedule attached as Annex A sets out dates for the Board’s regular meetings in 2012. As noted above, dates and topics for community focused public interest meetings will be added to the schedule in the New Year.
