                                         POLICE SERVICES BOARDS’ FALL SEMINAR

RECOMMENDATION

That the Ottawa Police Services Board approve the attendance of H. Jensen at the Ontario Association of Police Services Boards (OAPSB) Fall Seminar being held at the Doubletree by Hilton, Toronto Airport, on September 29 – 30, 2011.

BACKGROUND

Attached is information about the Ontario Association of Police Services Boards’ Fall Seminar being held in Toronto, Ontario from September 29 – 30, 2011.  The Seminar is entitled “The Rising Cost of Policing”. 

The information was previously circulated to Board members to determine their interest in attending.  Member Jensen has indicated he would like to attend on behalf of the Ottawa Police Services Board.  Member Jensen currently serves as the 1^st Vice President of the OAPSB.

FINANCIAL STATEMENT

The total estimated cost of attending is $1,400 per person.  Funds were included in the 2011 Police Services Board budget for attendance at conferences and conventions in accordance with the Board’s training policy.  There are sufficient funds remaining in the budget to meet this request.
