2011 MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL
That the Ottawa Police Services Board approve payment of $5,000 to the Canadian Association of Police Boards for its 2011 membership fee.
BACKGROUND
The email attached as Annex A contains 2011 Membership Renewal information from the Canadian Association of Police Boards (CAPB).
The Ottawa Police Services Board has been a member of the CAPB since 1995 and has been a very active supporter in past years. In addition to providing staffing support to the Association for nine years from 1997 through 2005, former Board Chair Herb Kreling served for seven years on the Board of Directors, including two terms as President from August 2001 to August 2003.
Members of the Ottawa Police Services Board are required to attend at least one annual CAPB conference in the first two years of being on the Board, in accordance with the Board’s Training Policy and commitment to ongoing learning.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
The 2011 annual membership fee for police services boards with over 1,000 employees remains unchanged from last year, at $5,000. Funds have been allocated for this expense in the draft 2011 Police Services Board Budget.
