That the Board of Health for the City of Ottawa Health Unit:
1) Receive the Ottawa Public Health 2011 Annual Report, and
2) Approve that it be forwarded to Ottawa City Council for the information of its members, in accordance with the City of Ottawa Act.

1) prenne connaissance du Rapport annuel de 2011 de Santé publique Ottawa;
2) approuve qu’il soit acheminé au Conseil municipal d’Ottawa à des fins d’information, en vertu de la Loi sur la ville d’Ottawa.
The legal obligations and authority for public health in Ontario are established under the Health Protection and Promotion Act. The Ontario Public Health Organizational Standards (OPHS) promote organizational excellence, establish the foundation for effective and efficient program and service delivery and contribute to a public health sector with a greater focus on performance, accountability and sustainability. The OPHS stipulate that the Board shall produce an annual report to the general public, which includes a description of programs and operation of the public health unit. In addition to its duties and responsibilities under the Health Protection and Promotion Act, the Board shall, at the request of the city, make an annual report to the City on the Board’s operations, pursuant to the City of Ottawa Act, 2010, section 12, subsection 7.

En Ontario, les obligations et pouvoirs juridiques en matière de santé publique sont régis par la Loi sur la protection et la promotion de la santé. Les Normes organisationnelles de santé publique de l’Ontario (NSPO) visent à promouvoir l’excellence organisationnelle, à établir les fondements de l’offre efficace et efficiente de programmes et de services et à contribuer à ce que le secteur de la santé publique soit davantage axé sur le rendement, la responsabilisation et la durabilité. Selon les NSPO, le Conseil de santé doit produire à l’intention du grand public un rapport annuel qui comprend une description des programmes et du fonctionnement du bureau de santé. Outre les obligations et responsabilités que lui attribue la Loi sur la protection et la promotion de la santé, le conseil soumet à la cité, à la demande de celle-ci, un rapport annuel sur les activités du conseil, conformément au paragraphe 7 de l’article 12 de la Loi de 2010 sur la ville d’Ottawa.
Overview of report
The Ottawa Public Health (OPH) 2011 Annual Report, titled Improving Ottawa’s Health: Health Promotion, Protection & Disease Prevention, demonstrates the programs and services that are provided by OPH to make Ottawa a safer and healthier city. The stories of clients and members of the public who rely on OPH are also profiled in the report, giving a human perspective to OPH programs and services.
In addition, the Annual Report also gives OPH the opportunity to thank community partners, other City of Ottawa departments, volunteers and sponsors for their continued support and contributions to public health programs and services. The report also thanks and acknowledges the leadership and support of the Board.
Distribution of report
OPH’s 2011 Annual Report is available in both English and French. OPH will use a multi-pronged approach to disseminate this year’s annual report to stakeholders and the public. The dissemination plan includes promoting the release of the report through social media, as well as posting the report on OPH’s website and disseminating the report to community partners and stakeholders.

Aperçu du rapport
Le rapport annuel de 2011 de Santé publique Ottawa (SPO), intitulé Améliorer la santé d’Ottawa : promotion et protection de la santé et prévention des maladies, décrit les programmes et services mis sur pied par SPO pour faire d’Ottawa une ville saine et sécuritaire. Des témoignages de clients et de membres du public qui ont eu recours aux services de SPO sont aussi inclus dans le rapport, ce qui donne une dimension très humaine aux programmes et services de SPO.
Le rapport annuel donne l’occasion à SPO de remercier ses partenaires communautaires, les autres services de la Ville, ses bénévoles et ses commanditaires de leur appui soutenu et de leur contribution aux programmes et services de santé publique. SPO tient également à remercier le Conseil de santé d’Ottawa et à souligner son leadership et son soutien.

Le rapport annuel de 2011 de SPO est disponible en anglais et en français. SPO utilisera une approche à plusieurs volets pour diffuser ce rapport aux intervenants et au public. Le plan de distribution comprend la promotion de la publication du rapport sur Twitter et sur le blogue de SPO, ainsi que la publication du rapport sur le site Web de SPO et la distribution de copies papier auprès de partenaires communautaires et d’intervenants.
