RECOMMENDATIONS
That Council:
1. Direct the Planning and Growth
Management Department to develop a set of guidelines for the preparation and
assessment of hydro-geological and terrain analysis for consideration by Agriculture
and Rural Affairs Committee and Council by the second quarter of 2012, and;
2. Approve that the preparation of these
guidelines be undertaken concurrently with the rural review, and is to include
input from a variety of stakeholders including rural residents, developers,
engineers and hydrogeologists.

de l'urbanisme et de la gestion de la croissance à développer un ensemble de directives pour la préparation et
l'évaluation de l'analyse hydrogéologique et du terrain pour examen par le
Comité de l'agriculture et des affaires rurales et le Conseil avant le deuxième
trimestre de 2012;
et,
2. Approuve
que la préparation de ces directives soit entrepris parallèlement à l’examen rural,
et devrait inclure la participation de divers intervenants, y compris les
résidents ruraux, les développeurs, les ingénieurs et les hydrogéologues.

At the 1 September 2011 meeting of the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee, the Committee approved the following Motion:

WHEREAS concerns related to water quality are
important to our rural communities which rely on private servicing, and;
WHEREAS questions have been raised about
whether the provincial guidelines, standards and objectives for water quality
recognise advancements in water treatment technology;
WHEREAS many of our rural villages and other
development permitted in the rural area depend on private services to support
moderate growth which is necessary to sustain rural services;
WHEREAS the City is responsible to ensure that
new development is sustainable, uses ground water efficiently and protects
human health;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Planning and
Growth Management Department be directed to develop a set of guidelines for the
preparation and assessment of hydro-geological and terrain analysis for
consideration by ARAC and Council by the second quarter of 2012, and;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the preparation of
these guidelines be undertaken concurrently with the rural review and is to
include input from a variety of stakeholders including rural residents,
developers, engineers and hydro geologists.
Staff will be in attendance at the meeting of Ottawa City Council and will be able to answer any questions that may arise.
Staff to take appropriate action as directed by Council.
