BACKGROUND

Recruitment for membership on the Committee of Adjustment was conducted in accordance with the Council-approved Appointment Policy for citizen members of City of Ottawa Advisory Committees, Boards, Task Forces, Agencies and Commissions.  Advertisements were placed in local newspapers beginning November 5, 2010 and the City accepted applications from November 5 to November 26, 2010.

The Selection Panel consisted of Councillors Peter Hume and Scott Moffatt as well as Mayor Jim Watson (ex officio).  Their recommendations for the appointment of five members to each of the Urban and Suburban panels of the Committee of Adjustment are submitted for approval by Committee and Council.  As some time is required to train new members before they can participate in their first meeting, it is recommended that the terms take effect on May 31, 2011.
