That Council approve the appointment of Stephen

REPORT RECOMMENDATION
That the Corporate Services
and Economic Development Committee recommend Council approve the appointment of
Stephen Bent and Kevin Butler to the Barrhaven Business Improvement Area Board
of Management for the term expiring 30 November 2010.

au Conseil municipal d’approuver la nomination de Stephen Bent et de Kevin
Butler au Conseil de gestion de la Zone d’amélioration commerciale de Barrhaven
pour un mandat prenant fin le 30 novembre 2010.
Section 204 of the Municipal Act,
2001 requires that the municipality appoint Business Improvement Area (BIA)
Board members.
According to its by-law (By-law No.
2007-01), the Barrhaven Business Improvement Area is entitled to “nine (9)
members, two (2) of whom shall be members of Council”.
At its 14 December 2006 meeting,
City Council appointed Councillors Jan Harder and Steve Desroches as its
representatives on the Barrhaven Business Improvement Area Board of Management
and at its 23 May 2007 meeting, City Council approved the appointment of
business members to the Barrhaven BIA.
In an e-mail dated 31 March 2009, the Executive Director of the Barrhaven Business Improvement Area advised that John Baizana and Steffanie Eckford had resigned from the Barrhaven BIA Board of Directors and asked that Council approve the appointment of Stephen Bent and Kevin Butler to fill the positions left vacant by the aforementioned resignations.
Mr. Bent and Mr. Butler will serve the balance of the term, expiring on November 30, 2010.
Consultation or recruitment of
members is undertaken by the BIA. This
is an administrative matter completed on behalf of the BIA, therefore public
consultation is not required.
There are no financial implications
related to this report.
