That the Agriculture and Rural Affairs
Committee recommend Council direct staff to bring forward a parkland acquisition
report regarding the Carp Honeywell lands this Fall 2009, prior to budget
discussions.
Que le Comité d’agriculture et des questions
rurales recommande au Conseil de demandé au personnel de déposer un acquisition
de terrains à vocation de parc à Carp Honeywell à
l’automne 2009, avant les débats sur le budget.
On 9 April 2009, the Notice of Motion outlined below
was presented to the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee for consideration
at a subsequent meeting:
WHEREAS, the Village of Carp
was the subject of a community design plan approved in 2004, which identified
lands adjacent to Carp Fair Board as requiring investigation in securing the
site for open space and/or institutional uses;
AND WHEREAS the site is located in
the centre of the village, close to the core and residential neighbourhood;
AND WHEREAS the community has
been raising funds to contribute to the acquisition;
AND WHEREAS the large tract of
land adjacent to the subject property is comprised of City and the Carp Fair
Board ownership;
AND WHEREAS both owners, the
City and the Carp Fair Board would like to consolidate their holdings and make
greater use of the site;
AND WHEREAS the City has a
keen interest in preserving these lands for public use;
THEREFORE BE IT
RESOLVED that staff be directed to bring forward an acquisition report this
Fall 2009, prior to budget discussions.
CONSULTATION
CITY OPERATIONS
Staff support the
recommendation of coming forward with a report prior to the 2010 budget
discussions.
There are no legal/risk management impediments to implementing any of the Recommendations arising from this report.
