BACKGROUND

At its meeting of 8 November 2007, the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee suspended the Rules of Procedure, pursuant to section 84(3) of the Procedure By-law (being By-law no. 2006-462), to consider the addition of a late item to the agenda.  Councillor El-Chantiry put forth the following motion, which was then approved by Committee, with respect to an application of the Capital City Speedway:

Whereas, Capital City Speedway has provided the residents of Ottawa with exciting live sporting entertainment for more than 46 years being established at its present location since 1961,

And whereas Capital City Speedway has an existing liquor license to serve alcohol on its premises and wishes to expand this service to selling beer and coolers in the fixed tier stadium seating as a convenience to its patrons as is done in other venues in the City of Ottawa,

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that, the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee recommend Council endorse the application by Capital City Speedway for a Liquor Sales License (Stadium) Application as is required by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario.
