BACKGROUND
Councillor Holmes presented the following motion at the September 25, 2007 meeting of the Planning and Environment Committee. Pursuant to Section 84 (3) of the Procedure By-law, the Committee added the item and carried the motion.
WHEREAS
under Fire Marshal’s Order the Ottawa Fire Services has issued an order to
remove the five vacant residential buildings at 160 to 170 Cambridge Street
North, because they represent a danger to the public;
AND
WHEREAS such Orders are not associated with the site remediation and interim
landscaping conditions that would have been required if these properties had
been subject to the Residential Demolition Control Bylaws;
AND
WHEREAS these properties are located in a low profile residential
neighbourhood, where a surface parking lot would be undesirable, and
deleterious to the long term redevelopment of this land;
BE IT RESOLVED THAT following their demolition, the lands at 160 to 170 Cambridge Street North be graded, sodded or seeded, and bollarded to prevent an illegal parking lot from encroaching upon this residential community.
