Committee recommendation
That Council approve the Transportation Committee’s recommendation
to send a delegation of Standing Committee members, a senior member of
Planning, Transportation and the Environment staff and a senior member of
Traffic, Parking and Operations staff to Eugene/Portland, Oregon and Seattle,
Washington to study road, pedestrian and transit projects, programs and
policies as part of the development of the Transportation Master Plan.
Que le Conseil approuve, dans le
cadre de l’élaboration du Plan directeur sur les transports, la recommandation
du Comité des transports concernant l’envoi d’une délégation comprenant des
membres du Comité permanent, un cadre du Service de l’urbanisme, du transport
en commun et de l’environnement ainsi qu’un cadre de la Direction de la
circulation et du stationnement, à Eugene/Portland, Oregon et à Seattle,
Washington, afin d’étudier les projets, programmes et politiques concernant les
routes, les piétons et le transport en commun.

RECOMMENDATION
WHEREAS the City of Ottawa is about to
undertake a significant refresh of its Official Plan and Transportation Master
Plan;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the
Transportation Committee approve sending a delegation of Standing Committee
members, a senior member of Planning, Transportation and the Environment staff
and a senior member of Traffic, Parking and Operations staff to
Eugene/Portland, Oregon and Seattle, Washington to study road, pedestrian and
transit projects, programs and policies as part of the development of the
Transportation Master Plan.
ATTENDU QUE la Ville d’Ottawa est sur le point
d’entreprendre une mise à jour importante de son Plan officiel et de son Plan
directeur sur les transports;
IL EST PAR CONSÉQUENT RÉSOLU que le Comité des
transports approuvera, dans le cadre de l’élaboration du Plan directeur sur les
transports, l’envoi d’une délégation comprenant des membres du Comité
permanent, un cadre du Service de l’urbanisme, du transport en commun et de
l’environnement ainsi qu’un cadre de la Direction de la circulation et du
stationnement, à Eugene/Portland, Oregon et à Seattle, Washington, afin
d’étudier les projets, programmes et politiques concernant les routes, les
piétons et le transport en commun.
At the Joint Transportation Committee and Transit Committee Meeting held on 15 August 2007, Councillor Doucet brought forward the following Notice of Motion, for consideration at the next meeting:
That the Transportation Committee consider a professional development trip to Eugene/Portland, Oregon, and Seattle, Washington to study road, pedestrian and transit projects, programs and policies.
After the meeting, the Deputy City Clerk discussed the proposed motion with Councillor Doucet, and it was agreed to revise the motion as being presented.
CONSULTATION
Planning, Transit and the Environment Staff is aware of this motion and will respond to any questions at the meeting.
This item will be advertised in the local dailies as part of the Public Meeting Advertisement on Friday preceding the Transportation Committee Meeting.
FINANCIAL
IMPLICATIONS
Staff have estimated that for the nine
Committee members and two senior staff to attend this trip a budget of $3000
per person for a 5-day trip is appropriate.
Planning Branch has identified $33,000 in
available funds for the eleven member delegation, however all conference and
conventions, business travel, and staff training and development funds for 2007
will be exhausted.
Planning,
Transit and the Environment Staff to take appropriate action as directed by the
Committee and Council.
