REPORT RECOMMENDATION
That the Corporate Services
and Economic Development Committee recommend Council approve the appointment of
Serge Faucher and Hubert Rayne to the Vanier Business Improvement Area Board of
Management for the term expiring November 30, 2006.

au Conseil municipal d’approuver la nomination de Serge Faucher et Hubert Rayne
au conseil de gestion de la Zone d’amélioration commerciale de Vanier pour un
mandat prenant fin le 30 novembre 2006.
Section 204 of the Municipal Act,
2001 requires that the municipality appoint Business Improvement Area (BIA)
Board members.
According to its by-law (By-law No.
2792), the Vanier Business Improvement Area is entitled to “a maximum of nine
(9) members, at least one of whom shall be a member of Council”.
At its 17 December 2003 meeting,
City Council appointed Councillor Georges Bédard as its representative on the
Vanier Business Improvement Area Board of Management. City Council approved the appointment of seven (7) business
members to the Vanier BIA on 11 February 2004.
A replacement member and an additional business member (for a total of
8) were appointed by Council at its meeting of 25 May 2005.
In a letter dated February 16, 2006,
the BIA advised the City of the resignations of Sandra Pelletier, Alain
Dagenais and Louise Charlebois from its Board of Management.
The BIA has requested the appointment of Serge Faucher, General Manager, Racine, Robert & Gauthier and Hubert Rayne, owner and operator of Ray-Tek Printing Inc. to fill two of the existing vacant positions on its Board of Management for the balance of the term, expiring on November 30, 2006.
The BIA undertakes consultation or
recruitment of members. This is an
administrative matter completed on behalf of the BIA, therefore public
consultation is not required.
There are no financial implications
related to this report.

Upon approval of the report by
Council, the City Clerk will notify the Vanier BIA of the appointments.
