BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT AREA BOARD OF MANAGEMENT - APPOINTMENTS

That Council:
1. Appoint the Councillor for Ward 3, Bell-South Nepean, as its representative on the Barrhaven Business Improvement Area for the balance of the term of Council; and
2. Approve the appointment of the following individuals to the Barrhaven Business Improvement Area Board of Management for the term expiring November 30, 2006:

BACKGROUND
Section 204 of the Municipal Act requires that Council appoint Business Improvement Area Board members, who hold office until the expiration of the term of Council that appoints them.
At its November 9, 2005 meeting, Ottawa Council adopted By-law 2005-499, which effectively established a Board of Management for the Barrhaven Business Improvement Area. According to this By-law, the Board of Management "shall consist of seven members, appointed by the Council of the City of Ottawa, one of whom shall be a member of Council, and the remaining members shall be individuals assessed for business assessment, or tenants of such property, in respect of land in the Area of nominees of such individuals or of corporations so assessed."
On
November 1, 2005 the above-noted business representatives were nominated for
appointment to the newly created Barrhaven Business Improvement Area Board of
Management. These nominees represent
various businesses in Barrhaven and will be actively involved in the business
community.
This is an administrative matter
completed on behalf of the BIA, therefore public consultation is not required.
There are no financial implications
related to this report.

Upon approval of the report by
Council, the City Clerk will notify the ByWard Market BIA of the appointments.
