That the Corporate
Services and Economic Development Committee recommend Council approve the
appointments of Mr. Jean Letellier, Mr. Jean Senéchal, and Ms. Linda Balduzzi
to the Downtown Rideau Business Improvement Area Management Board.

Rideau.
At the 20 February 2001 meeting of the Corporate Services and Economic Development Committee, a report was approved nominating members to various Business Improvement Area Management Boards in the City. The Downtown Rideau Business Improvement Area Management Board has requested nominations of three candidates. Section 220 of the Municipal Act requires that Council are to appoint new Board members. As outlined in a letter received from the Executive Director of the Downtown Rideau Board of Management, the appointments of the three individuals represent replacements for existing members, as follows:
Mr. Letellier, Owner, Letellier Shoes - replacing Bill Macy, General Manager, Coffee Revolution
Mr. Jean Senéchal, General Manager, Eatons, Rideau Centre - replacing Dean Lett, General Manager, Quality Hotel
Ms. Linda Balduzzi, Executive Director, Arts Court Foundation - replacing John Toth, Owner, Dworkin Furs.
As this is
an administrative matter completed on behalf of the BIA, consultation is not
required.

Upon approval of the report, Secretariat Services will notify the Downtown Rideau B.I.A. of the appointments.
BIO
Jean Letellier
The Letellier family has owned and operated Letellier Shoes on Rideau Street in Downtown Rideau for several decades.
Jean is a past Rideau BIA Board Member who brings a valuable history of the BIA and its two redevelopment projects to the Board of Management.

Jean Senechal
Store Manager, Eatons, Rideau
Centre, Ottawa
As manager of the Eatons Department store in Ottawa,
Jean Senechal’s primary responsibility is to ensure customer satisfaction. Merchandise presentation, store maintenance,
customer service and staffing all contribute to the customer’s overall shopping
experience and are just some of the many areas that he oversees. Mr. Senechal is also responsible for managing
and motivating a staff of over 350 associates.
Mr. Senechal’s career has spanned over 20 years with
Sears Canada. He has held a number of
positions with the company, most recently as Store Manager of Sears Saint John,
New Brunswick, named Store of the Year in 1998 in the mid-size store
category. Prior to that, Mr. Senechal
held the roles of Management Trainee, Division Manager, Personnel Manager, and
Sales Manager in Moncton; Store Superintendent in Newmarket and Laval; Store
Manager in Hull, Markham, and Yorkdale; and Assistant to Regional General
Manager for the Toronto Region in the area of Merchandising and Marketing.
Mr. Senechal holds a Bachelor of Business
Administration from the Université de Moncton.
Active in the community, he is involved with minor hockey associations
and has served as a member of School Parents Committee and the Board of
Directors of the Samuel-de-Champlain Community Centre in Saint John.
Mr. Senechal is married with four children and in his
free time, enjoys sports, movies, reading and cooking.

BIOGRAPHY: Linda
Balduzzi
Linda Balduzzi is Executive Director of the Ottawa Arts Court Foundation (Arts Court), Ottawa’s municipal centre for the performing, visual, literary and media arts. A graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada and the University of Ottawa, her background encompasses directing, producing, and administering the arts. She has worked with organizations such as the National Arts Centre, the Great Canadian Theatre Company and the National Museum of Civilization.
