RecommandationS du rapport

Que le Conseil de santé de la circonscription sanitaire de la ville d’Ottawa prenne connaissance du Rapport mensuel sur les maladies transmissibles de juillet 2011.

Background

The Ontario Public Health Standards require Ottawa Public Health (OPH) to ensure that the Board of Health is aware of and uses epidemiological data to inform the development of healthy public policy, programs and services. In June 2011, the reporting schedule of epidemiological reports to the Board was approved (ACS2011-OPH-IQS-0002).

The purpose of this report is to provide the Board with the July 2011 Monthly Reportable Disease Report.

DISCUSSION

July 2011 Monthly Reportable Disease Report

The report presents current available data for reportable communicable diseases for the City of Ottawa. The reports highlight increases in cases of Chlamydia, which is addressed through OPH’s Sexual Health Strategy (ACS2011-OPH-CP-0002). The report also indicates decreases in the number of cases of two enteric illnesses (Amebiasis and Yersiniosis) and in viral meningitis cases.

CONSULTATION

Ottawa Public Health will inform health care providers and community partners of pertinent local epidemiological information.
