REPORT RECOMMENDATIONS
That
the Corporate Services and Economic Development Committee recommend Council
approve the appointments outlined in Attachment 1 to the respective Business
Improvement Area Boards of Management.
RECOMMANDATIONS DU RAPPORT
Que le Comité des services organisationnels et du développement économique recommande au Conseil municipal d’approuver les nominations mentionnées dans l’annexe 1 aux Conseils de gestion respectifs des zones d’amélioration commerciales.
Section 220 of the Municipal Act specifies that Business Improvement Area Board Members hold office until the expiration of the term of Council that appoints them. Therefore, the 2001 municipal election necessitates that appointment of new Board Members to the various BIAs.
The nominees submitted for City Council approval represent the diversity of businesses in the various BIAs and who will be actively involved in the business community. Some BIAs have not submitted the full complement and these will be forthcoming, but it is necessary to establish the new Boards to ensure operation continues in an efficient and effective manner.
