COUNCIL OF CANADIANS WITH DISABILITIES AWARDS CITY WIDE Chair Taylor presented the awards to Dr. Christine Kelly and Ms. Erica Carson. RECEIVED 2. WHY LOCAL MUSEUMS MATTER - OTTAWA MUSEUM NETWORK PRESENTATION- FALL 2012 CITY WIDE This item was deferred at the request of the Ottawa Museum Network Board of Directors. DEFERRED CRIME PREVENTION OTTAWA 3. CRIME PREVENTION OTTAWA: WHY COMMUNITY-BASED CRIME PREVENTION WORKS, UPDATED NEIGHBOURHOOD TOOLKIT AND ACTION REPORT 2011-2012 ACS2012-CMR-CPS-0011 CITY WIDE REPORT RECOMMENDATION: That Community and Protective Services Committee and Council receive this report for information. Councillor S. Qadri, Chair of Crime Prevention Ottawa and Nancy Worsfold, Executive Director gave a PowerPoint presentation on the work of CPO, especially on the three communities’ case study. The presentation is held on file with the City Clerk’s office. The following representatives of the three communities assisted in the presentation: * Roberta Della-Pica with Lowertown, Our Home * Stephan Cherry and Lucie Marleau with Together for Vanier * Holly Brown with United Neighbours, Pinecrest-Queensway Following the presentation the Committee members asked a few questions and offered thanks and praise for the work done by Crime Prevention Ottawa and encouraged them to pursue grants with the Federal and Provincial governments. The report recommendations were then put to Committee and RECEIVED as presented. CITY MANAGER’S OFFICE CITY CLERK AND SOLICITOR DEPARTMENT 4. STATUS UPDATE – COMMUNITY AND PROTECTIVE SERVICES COMMITTEE INQUIRIES AND MOTIONS - FOR THE PERIOD ENDING 13 SEPTEMBER 2012 ACS2012-CMR-CCB-0055 CITY WIDE COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: That the Community and Protective Services Committee receive this report for information. RECEIVED 5. COMMEMORATIVE NAMING COMMITTEE PROPOSAL – NORMAN EDWARDS PARK ACS2012-CMR-CCB-0060 CUMBERLAND (19) REPORT RECOMMENDATION: That Community and Protective Services Committee recommend that Council approve a proposal to name a new park at 155 Sunshine Crescent, “Norman Edwards Park”. CARRIED 6. COMMEMORATIVE NAMING COMMITTEE PROPOSAL - EGBERT REITSMA PARKETTE ACS2012-CMR-CCB-0058 WEST CARLETON-MARCH (5) REPORT RECOMMENDATION: That the Community and Protective Services Committee recommend that Council approve a proposal to name the parkette at 100 Clifford Campbell Street, as “Egbert Reitsma Parkette.” CARRIED 7. COMMEMORATIVE NAMING COMMITTEE PROPOSAL – JIM MALONE PARK ACS2012-CMR-CCB-0059 KANATA NORTH (4) REPORT RECOMMENDATION: That Community and Protective Services Committee recommend that Council approve a proposal to rename Goldridge Park, at 400 Goldridge Drive, as “Jim Malone Park.” CARRIED 8. COMMEMORATIVE NAMING COMMITTEE PROPOSAL - SYD AND VERNA COTTON PARK ACS2012-CMR-CCB-0061 CUMBERLAND (19) REPORT RECOMMENDATION: That the Community and Protective Services Committee recommend that Council approve a proposal to name an unnamed park at 1070 Forest Lea Drive, as “Syd and Verna Cotton Park.” CARRIED CITY OPERATIONS EMERGENCY AND PROTECTIVE SERVICES DEPARTMENT 9. AMBULANCE ACT - LEGISLATIVE CHANGES – ANNUAL RESPONSE TIME PERFORMANCE PLAN ACS2012-COS-EPS-0040 CITY WIDE REPORT RECOMMENDATION: That the Community and Protective Services Committee recommend that Council approve the 2013 Ottawa Paramedic Service response time performance plan as outlined in Document 3. Chief Anthony DiMonte, Ottawa Paramedic Services gave a PowerPoint presentation which is held on file with the City Clerk’s office. He also gave a brief summary and reasons why the type of reporting was changing for the Province but that it was only administrative and would not affect service. Following the presentation Councillors questioned Chief DiMonte regarding various issues on the report: such as any increased costs which the Chief stated was negligible, the size of the City of Ottawa and how it was different than any other municipality and any impact on rural services and the Chief said that it would have no impact, and finally that the Community Target for cardiac arrest was high but the Chief said that it would be something to aim for. The report recommendations were then put to Committee and CARRIED as presented. 10. 9-1-1 ANNUAL REPORT 2011 ACS2012-COS-EPS-0041 CITY WIDE REPORT RECOMMENDATION: That the Community and Protective Service Committee receive this report for information Pierre Poirier, Chief, Security and Emergency Management gave a brief verbal report followed by general questions from the Committee members. The report recommendation was then put to Committee and RECEIVED as presented. PARKS, RECREATION AND CULTURAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT 11. COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP MINOR CAPITAL PROGRAM SUMMARY OF FUNDING ALLOCATIONS 2011 ACS2012-COS-PRC-0013 CITY WIDE REPORT RECOMMENDATION: That Community and Protective Services Committee recommend Council receive the listing of projects funded through the program in 2011 as detailed in Document 1. CARRIED 12. COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP MAJOR CAPITAL PROGRAM SUMMARY OF FUNDING ALLOCATIONS 2012 ACS2012-COS-PRC-0012 CITY WIDE REPORT RECOMMENDATION: That Community and Protective Services Committee recommend Council approve the listing of projects as detailed in Document 1.
