AUTRES QUESTIONS

Programming and Sustainability of the Cumberland Heritage Village Museum

Chair Masciantonio advised members of the upcoming meeting of the Cumberland Heritage Village Museum Board on Monday, 28 February 2005, at 7:30 p.m. in the Honeywell Room.

                                                                                                RECEIVED

GOOSE

Chair Masciantonio informed members he had received an email from Victor Emerson, GOOSE, a not-for-profit association that supports the development and exposure of the Ottawa-area song writing community through projects developed by and for songwriters.  In recognition of the 150th "birthday" of Ottawa, they will shortly issue a call for songs for a new project.  Targeting Ottawa-area songwriters (in both official languages), they are hoping to stimulate submissions.  They are asking AHCAC to provide them with contact names to ensure that their call for submissions does not inadvertently overlook groups that are defined by musical style or ethnicity.

                                                                                                RECEIVED

COMMITTEE STRUCTURE

Member Griffiths had circulated an email prior to the meeting with her concerns on the Committee structure.  Chair Masciantonio stated that this has been an ongoing issue with some committee members for quite some time now.  Committee members made a number of suggestions and stated their opinions:

·        Leave the committee as is;

·        2 completely separate committees;

·        Alternate monthly meetings;

·        One Committee of the whole and 2 separate agenda – break into sub-groups

·        Not enough time at monthly meetings to deal with both Heritage and Arts issues on the agenda;

·        Loss of key members;

·        New committee structure to be in place prior to the 2005 fall recruitment;

·        The Committee is reactive rather than proactive;

·        Meeting by email is not the answer;

·        Agenda structure.

Chair Masciantonio advised members that any changes to the Committee’s mandate or Terms of Reference would need Council approval.

Action 1:   That Members come prepared with suggestions on what the committee structure should be.

Action 2:   The Committee requested that Ms. Hendrick and Ms. Fleury be invited to the meeting on 24 March 2005 to discuss this matter.
