COMMUNITY INCOME TAX CLINICS FOR SENIORS CLINIQUES D’IMPÔTS COMMUNAUTAIRES POUR LES AÎNÉS Kay Freeman, Program Director, Senior Citizens Council of Ottawa provided an overview of the Community Income Programme. The program was created to serve low-income persons and has been running for 35 years. Ms. Freeman provided a summary document on the Community Income Tax Programme, which is held on file with the City Clerk and Solicitor’s office pursuant to the City of Ottawa Records Retention and Disposition By-law. RECEIVED UPDATES FROM STAFF MISES À JOUR DU PERSONNEL 3. OLDER ADULT PLAN UPDATE MISE À JOUR DU PLAN POUR LES PERSONNES Nadine Jodoin, Specialist, Policy, Planning and Development, Client Services Strategies Branch provided an update on the current status of the Older Adult Plan (OAP). The update included a review of the OAP deliverables and timelines, accomplishments since the last update and upcoming opportunities for SAC involvement. A copy of the presentation is held on file with the City Clerk and Solicitor’s office pursuant to the City of Ottawa Records Retention and Disposition By-law. RECEIVED Action: Staff to provide the dates for the upcoming community sessions in order for members to select the dates that they would be available to assist/volunteer at the sessions. 4. PRESTO SMART CARD - PRESENTATION CARTE À PUCE PRESTO – PRÉSENTATION Sharon Thompson, Strategic Support Coordinator, Customer Service and Innovation Branch was joined by Robin Doner, Project Manager, Customer Service and Innovation Branch, they spoke to an informative and in-depth presentation on the Presto System. Following the presentation they addressed a variety of questions and concerns raised by members of the committee. RECEIVED ITEMS OF BUSINESS POINTS À L’ORDRE DU JOUR 5. ACCESSIBILITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE - ACCESSIBILITY CHECKLIST - WORKING GROUP -UPDATE COMITÉ CONSULTATIF SUR L’ACCESSIBILITÉ – LISTE DE VÉRIFICATION DE L’ACCESSIBILITÉ – GROUPE DE TRAVAIL – MISE À JOUR Member M. Saumweber indicated that she took part in a working group meeting on February 14, 2012 on behalf of SAC. She informed members that the initiative was brought forward via a motion that was passed by City Council in October 2011. The motion was two-fold, the requirement of an accessible section dealing with accessibility impacts in all reports going before committee and council. The second portion was the development of an accessibility checklist. She identified a few of the top priorities outlined within the checklist which is available online on the City’s website. RECEIVED Action: Coordinator to send members the link to the City’s 2012 Municipal Accessibility Update Report, which outlines the accessibility impact checklist. 6. FORWARD AGENDA ITEMS POINTS À L’ORDRE DU JOUR DES PROCHAINES RÉUNIONS JUNE 2012 * Education Presentation: Move it Outside, a movement to encourage older adults to be physically active outside. Presenter: Janet Edwards, Chair, Seniors Health Promotion Coalition FALL 2012 * Seniors Chapter of Parks/Recreation * Service Ottawa Gateway * Ottawa Public Health: Caregiver Support Program * Crime Prevention Ottawa - seniors safety and security particularly at the neighbourhood level OTHER BUSINESS AUTRES QUESTIONS Vice-Chair Breton advised members that the Council on Aging is holding an Age Friendly Community Forum, a presentation on the findings from the fall 2011 consultation with 600 older adults followed by a discussion on priorities for community action. Forum to take place on Tuesday June 5th, 2012 at 101-1247 Kilbourn Place.
