Legget Drive Pathway Kanata Herzberg Solandt former Kanata project, part of their Cycling Master Plan.  Demand for facilities by walkers, cyclists and skaters is very high in this area.  Completed Part of a larger plan to raise the profile of the Kanata North Business Park's image.  Cycling budget from former Kanata ($38k) is only a small part of project.  Built in 2002 for joggers and pedestrians; however intent is for cyclists to remain on-road.

Bank Street South 2 Gloucester-Southgate, River , Alta Vista Johnson Ledbury Bike lanes on Bank Street over railroad bridge. Current Although there is sufficient width to permit bike lanes, there are structural modifications required that could cost 100s of $k.  Further investigation is required.  It was found that with narrowed traffic lanes enough space remains to provide 1.4 m. spaces.  Edge lines were removed in April 2002.  Monitor.  Usetrs have indicated a preference to return the edge lines.
Bank Street South 3 Gloucester-Southgate, River Johnson Cahill, south of Pilot bike lanes, southbound only.  Right turn lane into South Keys was being used as a through lane by motorists to the detriment of cyclists. Current Bike lane painted on existing road surface to left of right turn lane.  Hatching added to sections of right turn lane to reduce motorist through movements, to be monitored and potentially replaced by physical curb extensions.  Survey on July 30, 2002 indicated lane is working reasonable well (70% of sb cyclists used lane)
Barr Haven East Development Area Pathways Bell-South Nepean     3.0 m pathways for new development in South Nepean; all 3.0 m. wide and asphalt except for one being left stone dust for aesthetics Current part of a larger initiative, being funded through Nepean's development charges.  Estimated cost ~ $250,000.  Tenders have been recently put out for construction.
Baseline Road 4 Baseline Woodroffe Navaho Major east-west arterial with few alternatives for commuter travel.  Speeds and traffic volumes justify bicycle lanes. Current Eastbound section from Woodroffe to Navaho to be completed in 2002.

Byron Avenue Ironworks Kitchissippi , Bay Woodroffe Golden Overlay Repairs/Catch Basins Current Edgeline on south side to be painted. Concern expressed about depression of some catch basins.  CTN shifted to Richmond Road in 1999.  To be scheduled for 2002.
Bytown Bridges Rideau-Rockcliffe King Edward Avenue Stanley Avenue Lifecycle rehabilitation of bridges required. Current Bicycle lanes to be provided from King Edward to Princess Street in conjunction with roadway modifiactoins to Sussex Drive.
Castlefrank Road 1 Kanata Campeau Katimavik New crossing of Queensway. Current Castlefrank Bridge is intended to be for local traffic primarily.  TTC has approved bike lanes and a multiuse pathway on the new bridge.
Castlefrank Road 2 Kanata Katimavik Hazeldean Road Neighbourhood traffic concerns study to tie in with roadway modifications to the north. Current This section has been planned to have wide curb lanes to accommodate shared bike and motor vehicle traffic.
Cathcart St. at King Edward Rideau-Vanier King Edward Avenue   Barrier (West Side) Current Modifications to westbound turn restriction would require community consultation.  Uncontrolled intersection - bicycle facility not recommended.  To be discussed in context of King Edward Ave. Traffic Study, which commenced 2001.
Cedarview Bell-South Nepean Fallowfield Lytle Cedarview north of Lytle has bike facility to West Hunt Club, needs to be continuous Current Was on RCAG priority list and is a high Nepean priority (March 2001).  It should be considered for an upgrade to city arterial standards.  City received cost estimate for design and construction estimates in 2002.  The section from Lyttle to Cedarhill Drive will have paved shoulders added in conjunction with the 2002 overlay program.  Is currently a high priority for construction in 2003.
Cycling Activity Indicators City Wide     Information required for cycling activity research and assessment of cyclist demand pattern changes at the local level. Current Project to utilise existing traffic count program and gain better insight into cyclist demand at local level as opposed to the macro level with past transportation studies using screenline counts.  Screenline counts underestimate actual pedestrian and cycling demand becasue they are geared to longer distance trips.  Consultant hired to Phase 1 in summer 2002.  Draft report completed in August 2002.  City contemplating expanding study area.
Eagleson/CPR Crossing Kanata Eagleson   pedestrian/cyclist crossing signal at midblock requested. Current Requested by member of the public.  Signal warrants not met by 2002.  Some councillors feel the cost is prohibitive.  Surveys undertaken by the City on Thursday May 22 and Saturday August 17 indicate a signal is unwarranted.
Fallowfield Transit Bike Lockers Bell-South Nepean Woodroffe   Pilot project to encourage bus-bike trips - lockers located at Fallowfield, Orleans and Greenboro Park and Ride Stations. Current Integrated with Transitway Stations.  Council approved in Nov. '99 that 10% of the number of car parking spaces be bike lockers. 10 double lockers installed spring 2002.  All lockers open to the public in August 2002.  Pilot project being monitored.
Fisher Avenue at Meadowlands Baseline, River Meadowlands   3.0 metre lanes squeeze cyclists at intersection. Current 2001 overlay program can provide an oppportunity to improve conditions, including a design review.  Overlay deferred to 2002.
Golf Course Recreational Pathway Kanata Herzberg Carling@Burk Road Recreational Route through a new golf course to provide a new connection for various users.  Includes an underpass of the Terry Fox extension in the southeast part of Kanata North Business Park. Current City proceeding to design multi-use pathway link.  Signals has no objections to removing NB to EB rt channel; cost before intersection modification is estimated at $83,000 (Dec 99).  Consultant to undertake feasibility analysis and preliminary design.
Johnston Road Gloucester-Southgate     Connection to Conroy Road (temporary - short to medium term) Current Bicycle lanes recommended by staff.  Review of intersection design (Bank Street, Conroy Road, to be undertaken.).  8.5 m temporary road to be constructed.
Laurier Bridge Reconstruction Somerset Elgin Nicholas Bridge needing structural repairs.  Is also uncomfortable for most cyclists due to narrow congested lanes. Current Project includes bike lanes,  connections to Queen E. Drive and a friendlier intersection design at Nicholas Street.  Construction scheduled for March 2002 and completion November 2003.
