1. Southwest Transitway Extension Environmental Assessment Study Final Report And Recommendations

- Director Transportation Planning report dated 5 Feb 96 01 That Transportation Committee and Council approve:

1. A strategy for rapid transit for the Nepean South Urban Centre, as detailed in this report, which:

a) Provides a series of incremental transit improvements.

b) Considers financial constraints.

c) Accommodates both short and long term travel needs.

2. Preparation and submission of an Environmental Assessment Report to the Ontario Ministry of Environment and Energy, seeking approval of:

a) A transitway in the Woodroffe corridor, from Baseline Station to Fallowfield Road, and in the corridor set aside for a transitway in Longfields, as detailed in this report.

b) Bus only lanes, from Norice/CN Tracks to Fallowfield Road, as detailed in this report.

c) Mitigation of environmental impacts associated with the above two undertakings, as detailed in this report.

3. Ongoing monitoring of transit operations in the Woodroffe corridor, to assist Transportation Committee in making decisions for implementation of transit facilities.

2. Roads: Local Road Closures - Delegated Authority - Environment and Transportation Commissioner report dated 17 Jan 96

That Transportation Committee and Council approve delegation to the Environment and Transportation Commissioner of the authority to approve local road closings on a Plan of Subdivision.

3. Consolidation of the Traffic and Parking By-law - Director, Mobility Services report dated 25 Jan 96

That Transportation Committee and Council approve enactment of the consolidated Traffic and Parkway By-law No. 1 of 1996, effective 1 July 1996.

4. Advanced Technology Traffic Enforcement - Councillor Holmes report dated 13 Feb 96

That Transportation Committee and Council approve that the Regional Municipality of Ottawa-Carleton join with the Region of Peel and Metro Toronto to request legislation allowing the use of red light cameras for red light running and laser guns for speeding and that the Environment and Transportation Commissioner be requested to meet with the Solicitor General of Ontario to discuss this request.
