CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES
That the Arts Committee confirm the minutes of 12 March 1999.

MOVED BY COUNCILLOR HOLMES TO MOVE IN CAMERA:
That Agenda Item 1 of the agenda be considered by the Arts Committee in camera pursuant to subsection 11(1)(b) personal matters about an identifiable individual, including staff of the procedure by-law.
MOVED BY J. HARVEY TO MOVE OUT OF CAMERA
That the Arts Committee move out of camera and resume open session.

That the Arts Committee accept the resignation of Councillor Clive Doucet and approve the process outlined in this memo to fill the Council vacancy on the Arts Committee.

2. Direct Purchase Program 1999 - Art Advisor
MOVED BY JOCELYN HARVEY:
That the Arts Committee approve Eliza Griffiths as the 1999 Art Advisor.

3. Direct Purchase Program 1999
Councillor Loney suggested that in the Expression of Interest forms for the Direct Purchase Program, artists should be asked to include a price with and without framing for their art work.

That the Arts Committee appoint Jocelyn Harvey to the selection jury for the 1999 Direct Purchases Program

OTHER BUSINESS
Survey Summary and Public Meetings
G. Houle reported that the survey summary along with the invitation to the public meetings had been mailed to those on our various mailing lists. Discussions followed regarding the public meetings and what was expected at these meetings. Councillors will chair and host the meetings along with other committee members who are present. G. Houle will take notes. It was requested that copies of the Executive Summary of the Ekos Study and comment and sign-in sheets be available.
Exhibition Policy
G. Houle reported that the sub-committee was made up of Pat Durr, François Dion and Lynda Cronin. G. Houle reviewed the draft exhibition policy and noted changes that were suggested by members of the Arts Committee. The policy is to be brought to the next Arts Committee meeting.
UPDATE ON REGIONAL ART PROGRAMS
Ottawa-Carleton Book Award
The Ottawa Literary Awards ceremony will be held on 23 April 1999. It was suggested that a luncheon be held for the short-listed authors and members of the Arts Committee on the 23rd of April in the Councillors’ Lounge.
School Board’s Disposal of Surplus Property
Discussions were held regarding the disposal of schools.
